This section includes archived blog content from the original website about the civil engineer Sir John Wolfe Barry first created in 2017 by Nick von Behr using WordPress (see below).
The main purpose of the original website was to celebrate the centenary of Sir John's death in January 2018. This coincided with the beginning of the UK's 'Year of Engineering' celebrations and the launch of the 'This is Engineering' campaign. More needs to be done to promote civil engineering/architecture as a vital skills base in the built environment sector now and over time.
The website was also used to promote Nick's campaign for an English Heritage Blue Plaque for John Wolfe Barry which he had started in 2015. He finally got there at the end of 2019 when a Blue Plaque was put up on the building where Wolfe Barry died in Chelsea, London.
